How we rank

Ranked by what ₹100 of jewellery and gold returns on each card: its first-tier earn rate, times the share its bank's own rules pay on this spend (full, capped, reduced or nothing), at our value for its points. Only cards you can be issued today and whose rule for this spend we have read are ranked; a rule that our own notes doubt can rank but never leads. Cards our own verdict says to keep, and that anyone can apply for, come first; a card we say to downgrade or cancel, or one offered only by invitation from the bank's own clients or to one profession, follows them. A card whose own terms pay more at named merchants (6 here) ranks on the better of its ordinary rate and that brand rate, with the brand's cap applied as if all ₹75,000 a month went there; the row names the merchants, the cap and the rate everywhere else. The "most back on every ₹100" line above the table stays the ordinary rate, because it answers any merchant. The ₹ a year column is separate: what each card is worth across a typical month at the spend you pick.
