Delhi to Bagdogra on points

DEL → IXB great-circle 1,125 km · 699 mi — short domestic trunk to the Darjeeling gateway, ~2 hours 2 programs priced as of

The honest hole in this batch, and the reason the metal question is not a footnote. Air India's route table prices Delhi–Bagdogra at 5,500 economy (cut 27% from 7,500) and 17,000 business — but Air India mainline does not fly it. FlightConnections lists exactly four nonstop operators as of 8-Aug-2026 — Air India Express, Akasa Air, IndiGo and SpiceJet — Bagdogra's own airport article carries no Air India row at all, and Delhi's table puts Bagdogra under Air India Express only, sourced to the DGCA's Air India Express Summer 2026 schedule. The AI-numbered flights on this pair are 9000-series codeshares on Express metal. So the economy cell is real and bookable — Express seats have redeemed with Maharaja Points since 21-May-2026 — and the business cell prices a cabin Air India Express does not sell on any aircraft it owns. This board leaves business blank rather than print it. No Aeroplan row either: Air India Express is not a Star Alliance member, so there is no partner award to issue. 2 options, 1 of them a first-hand chart read.

Economy

Every economy option on this corridor is dynamic-priced — no honest number to crown. The rows below say what we know.

Program Metal / routing Points Surcharge All-in ₹ vs play
Air India Maharaja Points Air India Express nonstop — no Air India mainline service on this pair; Express seats redeemable with Maharaja Points since 21-May-2026 ~5,500 est. ₹4,400
IndiGo BluChip IndiGo nonstop — BluChip, dynamic (revenue-priced) ~10,400 est. ₹5,200

All-in ₹ = points × the program's house value (valuation index) + the sourced one-way surcharge; a dash means the carrier doesn't publish it and the ranking counts it ₹0 — the row's note carries the caveat. That surcharge is the airline's own cash charge on an award — YQ, as the notes below call it — and it is not the fuel-surcharge waiver your credit card advertises: that one hands back a hundred rupees or two at a petrol pump, this one runs to tens of thousands and decides whether the award is worth taking at all. “Dynamic” and estimated (~… est.) rows never compete for the play — the crown is always a verified, bookable price. Feed-ins come from the same transfer data as the optimizer, multi-hop chains included.

Air India Maharaja Points

~5,500 pts est.

Air India Express nonstop — no Air India mainline service on this pair; Express seats redeemable with Maharaja Points since 21-May-2026

Air India Express

Cut 27% from 7,500 to 5,500. The calculator's full range runs 5,500-12,000 across award tiers; 5,500 is the Value-tier floor this board prices. Business is deliberately absent: the chart prints a 17,000 cell, but Air India Express flies an all-economy fleet, so there is no seat to buy with it — and Air India mainline does not serve Bagdogra at all. Air India Express levies no carrier-imposed fuel surcharge, so cash out-of-pocket is statutory taxes and airport fees only; the desk has no published rupee figure for those, hence the honest blank.

Estimate Air India publishes no award chart. Its own Points Calculator states that “Fares indicated above are dependent on the time of booking and seat availability”, and Maharaja Club prices every award either as a Value fare (the discounted rate for booking well in advance) or as a higher Prime fare closer to departure. This number is the Value-fare floor as sampled after the April-2026 repricing — not a published chart cell: Value space is not always available on a given flight, and the same seat prices higher once it is gone. Pricing model re-verified against Air India’s Maharaja Club T&C and Points Calculator on 2026-08-09.

IndiGo BluChip

~10,400 pts est.

IndiGo nonstop — BluChip, dynamic (revenue-priced)

IndiGo

IndiGo runs the densest schedule into Bagdogra, but BluChip has no award chart — redemptions track the live fare at a dynamic ₹0.40-0.60 per BluChip, minimum 500, taxes and convenience fees cash-only. On the Darjeeling/Sikkim season peaks that is exactly the wrong structure: the points price triples with the cash one. Maharaja's fixed 5,500 on Express metal is the whole argument for the other program.

Estimate IndiGo BluChip is revenue-linked ~Rs0.50/pt; ~= typical one-way IndiGo economy fare / Rs0.50 for ~699 mi - a rupee offset that moves 1:1 with the live fare. Own-metal only, no partners.
