The movie-BOGO spend gate reaches My Zone too — ₹25,000 in the previous 3 months

Axis put the same ₹25,000-in-three-months test on My Zone's District BOGO from 1 November 2026. On a ₹500 card whose holder is by construction a light spender, that is the price of the one perk they were most likely using — and it does not match the ₹50,000 the lounge visit already demands.

When the ₹25,000 spend gate turned up on the IndiGo Axis Bank Premium’s movie benefit, the open question was how far across the Axis book it ran. My Zone’s own revision notice answers it: the same test, word for word, on a ₹500 card.

Before: buy-one-get-one on the second District movie ticket, up to ₹200 a month with coupon AXIS200, no spend condition.

From 1 November 2026: the same benefit, once you have put ₹25,000 of eligible spend through the card in the previous three months.

Why it lands harder here than on a ₹5,000 co-brand

A My Zone holder is a light spender by construction. The card has no fee waiver, earns EDGE REWARD Points at an effective 0.4% — points that leave for an airline at 20:1 — and its four annual lounge visits already demand ₹50,000 of spend in the previous three months. The movie BOGO was the one benefit that arrived unconditionally, worth up to ₹200 a month against a ₹500 annual fee. From November it costs ₹25,000 a quarter.

Note what that does to the card’s own arithmetic: two different spend tests over the same rolling window. ₹50,000 in the previous three months to unlock a lounge visit, ₹25,000 in the previous three months to unlock the cinema. Clear the second and you may still miss the first, and neither number is printed anywhere near the other.

The same fine print as the Premium

  • The window counts transactions settled in the preceding three calendar months, and settlement can lag the swipe by up to five working days.
  • EMI purchases count only at the instalment billed in the cycle, not the full ticket.
  • Fees, interest, reversals and refunds never qualify.
  • Newly issued cards are exempt for the issuance month plus the following three calendar months. A variant upgrade does not count as a new issuance; an additional card alongside an existing relationship does.

Three cards on our board now carry this identical test from 1 November: the IndiGo Axis Premium at ₹5,000, My Zone at ₹500 and NEO at ₹250. The gate does not scale with the fee. That is the finding.

Our take

At ₹500 a year the My Zone was never a rewards card; it was a cheap keeper with a lounge visit and a cinema trick. From November the cinema trick needs ₹1,00,000 of annual spend routed through a card that pays 0.4%. That ₹1,00,000 earns ₹400 here and would earn ₹1,500 on a 1.5% card, so the reader chasing the benefit gives up about ₹1,100 to protect a BOGO capped at ₹200 a month — and only if they actually go to the cinema every month.

If you clear ₹25,000 a quarter on this card anyway, nothing changes. If you do not, stop planning around either benefit and treat the ₹500 as the cost of a card you keep for its age on your credit file — or close it. Axis has spent this year converting benefits into rewards for spend, and on a ₹500 card there is not enough left to convert.
