IndiGo Axis Premium's movie BOGO grows a ₹25,000 spend gate

From 1 November 2026 the monthly buy-one-get-one on BookMyShow needs ₹25,000 of eligible spend in the previous three months. The fine print is where it bites: the window counts SETTLED transactions, and an EMI purchase counts only at the instalment billed.

Axis has spent 2026 bolting spend conditions onto benefits that used to arrive with the fee. The IndiGo Axis Bank Premium’s revision notice — the PDF behind the product page’s own update banner — puts one on the movie benefit.

Before: a buy-one-get-one on BookMyShow tickets, once every month, with no spend condition.

From 1 November 2026: the same BOGO, once you have put ₹25,000 of eligible spend through the card in the previous three months.

The bar is low. The definitions are not.

₹25,000 a quarter is ₹8,300 a month. For anyone actually using a ₹5,000 co-brand card for IndiGo tickets, that is nothing. The reader this reaches is the one who keeps the Premium for the milestone ladder — up to 20,000 BluChips a year — and puts daily spend on something that earns better than 1%. For them it is twelve BOGOs a year or none.

Three clauses in the notice do more work than the number:

  • The window counts transactions SETTLED in the preceding three calendar months, and settlement can lag the swipe by up to five working days. A purchase in the last days of a month may land in the next window, which is a quietly different thing from “spend ₹25,000 a quarter”.
  • EMI transactions count only at the instalment billed in that cycle, not the full purchase value. Convert a ₹60,000 flight booking to EMI and you have added a few thousand rupees to the bar, not sixty.
  • Fees, interest, reversals and refunds never qualify — the usual exclusions, and worth knowing before you count the annual fee towards your own threshold.

New cardholders get a grace period: the issuance month plus the following three calendar months. A variant upgrade does not restart that grace; an additional card taken alongside an existing relationship does.

Where this sits in the Axis book

It is not one card’s policy. The identical ₹25,000-in-three-months test appears in the Axis My Zone notice and in the NEO notice, on cards charging ₹500 and ₹250 respectively. What began as a premium-card mechanic is being applied across the shelf on the same date, which is the part worth tracking: the gate travels, the fee does not.

Nothing else in this notice touches the Premium’s economics. The 7/3/2 BluChip earn grid, the ₹5,000 fee, the four milestone rungs and the lounge allowance — two domestic visits a quarter plus two international a year through Priority Pass — all survive.

Our take

If you hold the Premium and use the BOGO, this is a diary entry, not a crisis: put ₹8,300 a month through the card and nothing changes for you. If you hold it as a milestone vehicle and swipe it twice a year, understand that from November the movie benefit is gone unless you go looking for it — and that a benefit you have to chase with ₹1,00,000 of annual spend is not really priced into a ₹5,000 fee any more.

The bigger question is what Axis does next with the same instrument. Lounge access on this card is already quota-based rather than spend-gated; a bank that has found a mechanism it likes rarely stops at the cinema.
