From 17 Dec 2026
Asiana exits Star Alliance on 16 December 2026; Star partner awards on Asiana flights are not valid for travel on or after 17 December 2026, the day Asiana Club folds into Korean Air's SKYPASS
Thai Airways’ award page now carries the notice in one line: “Asiana Airlines will officially exit Star Alliance on 16 December 2026.” Award flights operated by Asiana are not valid for travel on or after 17 December 2026.
This is the last step of Korean Air’s takeover. Korean has owned 63.88% of Asiana since December 2024. The integrated airline launches on 17 December 2026: Asiana Club folds into SKYPASS that day and Asiana’s flights move to SkyTeam.
What it means for Indian award bookers. Seats on Asiana metal booked with Star currencies (Air India Maharaja Club, KrisFlyer, Aeroplan, United and Royal Orchid Plus) only work for travel up to 16 December. After that, Seoul and Asiana’s onward Asian connections leave the Star map. If you hold one of those bookings, make sure you fly by the 16th. For travel after that, Korean Air metal through SkyTeam programmes is the way to Seoul on points.
Our award board still prices Asiana-operated options for travel before the cutoff. They come off on 17 December.
