Ashva's international earn drops from 5X to 2X

IDFC's Ashva page now dates the cut: international spends earn 5 reward points per ₹150 until 25 October 2026 and 2 from the 26th. Zero forex markup stays.

Before

5 reward points per ₹150 on international spends — the same rate as domestic spend under ₹20,000 a statement, about 1.33% at the ₹0.40 app-travel value — with those spends counting toward the ₹20,000 10X trigger

After

2 reward points per ₹150 on international spends from 26 October 2026, about 0.53% at ₹0.40; the spends still count toward the ₹20,000 trigger, and the zero forex markup is untouched

The card this affects

IDFC’s Ashva product page now footnotes its rewards table: 5X on international spends, asterisked, then “Effective 26th Oct 2026, you will earn 2X Reward Points on international spends.” The 10 September brochure printed 2X without a date. This is the date.

It’s the same trade IDFC made bank-wide in September: zero forex markup in exchange for fewer points on overseas spend. On a ₹1 lakh trip abroad you lose about 2,000 points, roughly ₹800 in IDFC’s app, but save about ₹3,500 against the 3.5% markup most cards charge.

If you have an overseas trip coming up, put it on Ashva before 26 October. International spends still count toward the ₹20,000 monthly 10X trigger after the change.

Mayura’s page carries no such footnote; its international earn is unchanged.

In force from 26 October 2026. The change this post reported is now live: 2 reward points per ₹150 on international spends from 26 October 2026, about 0.53% at ₹0.40; the spends still count toward the ₹20,000 trigger, and the zero forex markup is untouched.

IDFC FIRST Gaj vs IDFC FIRST Ashva

Same points, and neither card transfers anywhere — the redemption catalogue is the ceiling for both, so this one is decided on earn and fee, nothing else: 3.3% at ₹12,500/yr against 1.3% at ₹2,999/yr.

IDFC FIRST Ashva vs IDFC FIRST Mayura

IDFC's metal siblings: same 5X/10X engine and, since September, the same 0% forex — but Mayura's ₹0.50 points out-net Ashva from ₹75k a month — Ashva is the ₹2,999 consolation prize, not the smarter buy.

IDFC FIRST Ashva vs HSBC TravelOne

TravelOne out-earns Ashva at every spend level the page tests, and one currency transfers to twenty programmes, fifteen of them airlines, and the other dies inside an app at ₹0.40.
