How we got this ₹ figure

₹0.50 is our HOUSE value for a point — what a disciplined traveller actually clears, not the best redemption we have ever seen (₹0.50, the ceiling) and not the worst you can always fall back on (₹0.50, the floor). It is the number every route on this page is priced with.

We hold one dated point for IndianOil Fuel Points — the mark itself. There is no earlier valuation on our record, so this page shows no trend line rather than drawing one. How we value a point →

2 cards earn IndianOil Fuel Points outright. The figure is the reward rate — what ₹100 of ORDINARY spend earns back at our house ₹/point, before milestones, accelerators and the annual fee. How we compute it →

IndianOil RBL Bank Credit Card0.5%RBL BankIndianOil RBL Bank XTRA Credit Card1.0%RBL Bank

RBL states the rate itself, to the decimal: "1 Fuel Point = INR 0.5 for buying XTRA Reward points redeemable at IndianOil Fuel Stations." That sentence is also the reason this is scrip rather than money — a Fuel Point buys fuel at an IndianOil pump through the XTRA Rewards programme, and converts to nothing else. Flat by construction: one published rate, one redemption path, no transfer partner and no second avenue to spread a band across. Do not confuse it with rbl-reward-points, which these two cards do NOT earn.

    Launch minor RBL Bank
RBL relaunches the Shoppers Stop co-brand as a Gold / Platinum / Black trio
An older single Shoppers Stop co-brand line → Three tiers — Gold (₹1,000), Platinum (₹5,000), Black (₹10,000) annual — earning 10 RP/₹200 (Gold, Platinum) or 15 RP/₹200 (Black) across the Shoppers Stop Universe, with points worth ₹0.25 / ₹0.50 / ₹1.00 respectively

RBL rebuilt its Shoppers Stop co-brand into a three-card ladder. The fee rung buys a richer point, not just more of them: a Reward Point is worth ₹0.25 on Gold, ₹0.50 on Platinum and ₹1.00 on Black, so Black's 15 RP per ₹200 at ₹1 a point is a genuine 7.5% back on First Citizen days inside the Shoppers Stop Universe. Welcome vouchers scale the same way (₹500 quarterly on Gold, ₹2,000 plus Platinum membership and a makeover on Platinum, ₹1,500 quarterly on Black). No lounge access on any of the three — these are store cards and earn like it, with value only inside Shoppers Stop. All three are already on our board.

    Fee minor RBL Bank
RBL bolts a 1% fee onto FASTag loads and tolls — the fifth 1% line on its charge sheet
RBL levied 1% transaction fees on four things: rent, fuel and auto above ₹10,000, utility above ₹50,000 a month, and education routed through third-party apps → A fifth: "w.e.f. January 07, 2026, a 1% fee will apply on transactions done for Fastag loading or toll payment transactions above INR 10,000 per transaction per Card" on MCC 4784, 4111 and 4131. All five carry 18% GST on top

RBL's live Schedule of Charges (RBL-CC-SOC-V2-12-12-2025) now runs five separate 1% transaction-fee rows, and the newest one reaches the category Indian card marketing has spent three years advertising. Verbatim: "Fee on FASTag loading and Toll Payment Transactions — Merchant Category Codes MCC 4784, MCC 4111 and MCC 4131 — w.e.f. January 07, 2026, a 1% fee will apply on transactions done for Fastag loading or toll payment transactions above INR 10,000 per transaction per Card." It joins rent (MCC 6513, 1% on every transaction, no floor), fuel and auto (1% per transaction above ₹10,000, capped at ₹3,000), education through third-party apps (1%, with school and college websites and their own POS machines expressly exempt), and utility (1% above ₹50,000 a month per card). Every one attracts GST at 18%. Here is the trap, and it is structural rather than about any single rate: these are FEES, and RBL lists them in the Schedule of Charges nowhere near the reward exclusions in the card terms. A category can therefore cost you 1% AND earn you nothing — the two documents never reference each other, and no product page sums them. This is bank-wide by construction: the Schedule of Charges prices roughly sixty named variants and the fee rows are scoped by MCC, not by card. If you top up FASTag in ₹15,000 or ₹20,000 lumps to avoid doing it monthly, split the load: under ₹10,000 a transaction, the fee does not apply.

RBL gates domestic lounges behind ₹35k a quarter
Complimentary domestic lounge visits on World Safari, Icon and Platinum Maxima with no spend condition; add-on cards included → ₹35,000 of prior-quarter retail spend unlocks the next quarter's visits; add-on cardholders excluded; nothing in the issuance quarter

RBL joined the spend-gate club: from 1 July 2025, World Safari and Icon holders must put ₹35,000 of retail spend through the card each quarter to keep the next quarter's domestic lounge visits. Add-on cardholders lose access outright, and new cardholders wait out their first quarter at the food court. For World Safari — a card people carry precisely for airports — the free-with-the-fee era is over.

    Devaluation moderate RBL Bank
RBL strips points from education, government and wallet spends
World Safari and Icon earned base points on most categories; milestone counters included nearly all retail spend → No points on education-via-apps, government, contracted services, cash and Bills2Pay; milestones exclude 14 categories; 1% fees on utility spends past ₹50k/month, education apps and fuel past ₹10k

A portfolio-wide tightening dressed up as a T&C refresh: from 15 October 2024, RBL cards — World Safari and Icon included — stopped earning on education portals, government payments, wallets, and Bills2Pay, and the milestone counters that justify both cards' fees now exclude fourteen spend categories. Add 1% surcharges on big utility months, education apps and ₹10k+ fuel fills, and the effective reward rate on real-world spend dropped without a single headline number changing.
