HDFC lifts Biz Black's flight and hotel redemption cap to 75,000 points a month
HDFC's bank-wide Key Fact Statement cum MITC caps how many reward points a card can redeem for flights and hotels on SmartBuy in a calendar month: 1,50,000 for Infinia, 75,000 for Diners Black and Diners Black Metal, 50,000 for every other card. The edition dated 9 October 2026 (version 4.14) adds Biz Black to the 75,000-point tier; the 8 October edition did not name it. At Biz Black's ₹1-a-point SmartBuy value that is ₹75,000 of flights and hotels a month instead of ₹50,000. The clause prints no separate effective date.

Cards this affects

HDFC’s bank-wide Key Fact Statement cum MITC has, since January 2023, capped how many reward points a card can burn on SmartBuy flights and hotels in a calendar month: 1,50,000 for Infinia, 75,000 for Diners Black and Diners Black Metal, and 50,000 for everything else. Biz Black sat in “everything else” — an odd address for a card HDFC otherwise prices like an Infinia for the self-employed.
The edition dated 9 October 2026 (version 4.14) fixes that without a word of announcement: the 75,000-point line now reads “Diners Black Metal Edition, Diners Black, Biz Black”. The 8 October edition did not name it. Nothing else in the clause moved, and it carries no effective date of its own — the paragraph’s “with effect from 1st January 2023” belongs to the regime, not to the new name on the list.
What it is worth. Biz Black points redeem at ₹1 each on SmartBuy flights and hotels, so the ceiling moves from ₹50,000 to ₹75,000 of travel a month. At the base 5 RP per ₹150 that is the output of ₹22.5 lakh of monthly spend before the cap bites, up from ₹15 lakh — a cap only a GST-and-income-tax-heavy business will ever feel, which is exactly the business this card is built for. The 1:1 KrisFlyer door is unaffected; the cap is on SmartBuy redemptions, not on transfers.
One reading note. HDFC’s fee table prices a single card here, the BizBlack Metal Card, and the same document says “Biz Black” for the family wherever it is not splitting hairs — it writes “Biz Black (Metal Edition)” only in the redemption-fee exemption. We read the 75,000 tier as applying to the Metal card, which is the one you can hold.
