Chennai to Hyderabad on points

MAA → HYD great-circle 508 km · 316 mi 1 program priced as of

Chennai → Hyderabad is 508 km, and Air India publishes a price for it that nobody can fly. The full April-2026 Maharaja pull — every domestic cell off the airline's own points calculator, listed once per city pair — does print HYD–MAA: 4,500 in economy, 18,000 up front, both held flat through the overhaul. The aeroplane is the problem. Re-checked 2026-08-08 and both airport tables agree: Chennai lists Air India mainline to Delhi, Madurai, Mumbai and Singapore and Air India Express to Bengaluru, Guwahati, Kolkata, Madurai, Port Blair, Pune and Siliguri; Hyderabad lists mainline to Delhi, Mumbai and Tirupati and Express to the Gulf, Bengaluru, Goa–Mopa, Guwahati, Pune, Ranchi, Siliguri, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. Neither end carries the other, in either carrier. So the desk prints no Maharaja row: a calculator cell is a price, not a routing. That also kills the alliance backbones — Aeroplan's three distance-band rows came off on 2026-08-08 and AAdvantage's three with them, no oneworld carrier operating a domestic Indian sector at all. What is left is IndiGo, which owns the corridor on frequency and prices none of it on a chart. One option, an estimate that tracks whatever the fare does.

Every economy option on this corridor is dynamic-priced — no honest number to crown. The rows below say what we know.

Program Metal / routing Points Surcharge All-in ₹ vs play
IndiGo BluChip IndiGo nonstop — BluChip, dynamic (revenue-priced) ~7,000 est. — ₹3,500 —

All-in ₹ = points × the program's house value (valuation index) + the sourced one-way surcharge; a dash means the carrier doesn't publish it and the ranking counts it ₹0 — the row's note carries the caveat. That surcharge is the airline's own cash charge on an award — YQ, as the notes below call it — and it is not the fuel-surcharge waiver your credit card advertises: that one hands back a hundred rupees or two at a petrol pump, this one runs to tens of thousands and decides whether the award is worth taking at all. “Dynamic” and estimated (~… est.) rows never compete for the play — the crown is always a verified, bookable price. Feed-ins come from the same transfer data as the optimizer, multi-hop chains included.

Chart-priced, not live seats. These prices are read off each programme’s published award chart and valued at our own house ₹/point. 37% of the 39,855 priced options on the board are stated estimates for programmes that publish no chart; they are marked ~ est. and never crowned the play. Nobody here can see whether a seat exists on your date — confirm the space with the programme before you transfer. Points that leave your issuer do not come back.

IndiGo nonstop — BluChip, dynamic (revenue-priced)

IndiGo

IndiGo owns Chennai–Hyderabad on frequency and prices none of it on a chart — redemptions track the live fare at a dynamic ₹0.40–0.60 per BluChip, minimum 500, taxes and convenience fees cash-only. It is a rupee offset wearing points clothing, and on a 316-mile sector with no fixed award to beat it is the only thing on the board.

Estimate IndiGo BluChip is a revenue-linked rupee offset worth ~Rs0.50/BluChip (Card Insider pegs Rs0.40-0.60, 500 minimum); 7,000 ~= a typical Rs3,500 one-way Chennai-Hyderabad economy fare divided by Rs0.50. It moves 1:1 with the live fare and has no chart.
