Qantas points are a chart, not a calculator — Classic Flight Rewards still price by distance zone — but the 5 August 2025 overhaul lifted most bands up to 20% (the floor went 8,000→9,200), so the halo has dimmed. The detail that costs Indian readers real points: there are FIVE tables, and a trip flown by a partner prices on the dearer PARTNER table, not the Qantas one. Qantas flies nothing to India, so the ex-India play is always a oneworld partner (Qatar Qsuite, Cathay, Malaysia, SriLankan) — and always at partner rates, 10–20% above the numbers most guides quote. What's left is Qantas's cheap intra-Australia flying once you land. No Amex route in India; HSBC and SBI feed it at a clean 1:1.
₹/pt = (typical cash − surcharge) ÷ points, computed only from sourced numbers — the build
fails if a row's arithmetic doesn't. A dash means no honest cash anchor exists; the row's
note below says why. Dynamic-priced programs are framed as “typical”, never guaranteed.
Chart-priced, not live seats. Every corridor behind this page is priced off published award charts — 39,855 options across 2,450 corridors. 37% of the 39,855 priced options on the board are stated
estimates for programmes that publish no chart; they are marked ~ est. and never crowned the play. Nobody here can see
whether a seat exists on your date — confirm the space with the programme
before you transfer. Points that leave your issuer do not come back.

Corrected 2026-08-01 off Qantas's own tables page: Zone 1 on QANTAS metal is 9,200 points, up from 8,000 in Aug-2025 — the widely-quoted 5,700 is the JETSTAR table, the one band that got cheaper (6,400→5,700), and a Jetstar cash fare of ₹4,000–7,000 makes the cheaper award the worse redemption. On Qantas metal a SYD–MEL seat sells around ₹12,000; net of the ~₹500 award fee that is ₹1.25/point. Not a from-India redemption — it is what your Indian-earned points do after the long-haul lands you in Australia. Trans-Tasman is Zone 2, 13,800.

Repriced 2026-08-01 onto the table that actually applies. Qantas bands the SUMMED great-circle sectors, so BOM–HKG–SYD is ~7,257 miles — Partner Zone 8, 143,000 business, not the 120,000 we printed off the Qantas-operated table. Delhi's Cathay routing sums to ~6,920 miles and sits about 1% inside Zone 7 (125,400), close enough that Qantas's own Vincenty measurement decides it; go via Doha on Qatar instead and you are in Zone 9 at 167,000. Carrier charges swing by partner — Qatar levies little, BA and Cathay more. No ₹/pt claimed without a firm dated fare, but paid J India–Australia runs ₹2.5–4L.
