HDFC quietly nerfs the Regalia Gold — here's what it costs you
The base earn rate drops from 4 points per ₹150 to 5 per ₹200. Small on paper, real in your wallet.
Effective 15 May 2026, the HDFC Regalia Gold moves from 4 reward points per ₹150 to 5 points per ₹200. Do the arithmetic and the effective earn rate slips from about 1.73% to 1.625% — roughly a 6% haircut on every rupee you put through the card.
Is it fatal? No. The Regalia Gold was never a miles-chaser’s card; it’s a sensible mid-premium pick with a low, easily-waived fee and a decent voucher stack. But it’s another data point in a year where every issuer is trimming, and it nudges the card from quietly great to merely fine.
Our take: if the Regalia Gold is your main card and you’ve been eyeing the Infinia or Diners Black, this is your nudge. If you hold it for the fee-waiver freebies, carry on — just don’t build a points strategy around it anymore.
