Regalia Gold gets a new quarterly 'Boarding Edge' travel perk
HDFC adds Boarding Edge to Regalia Gold: upload a boarding pass to SmartBuy and pick two of four travel perks, once per quarter. It arrives on the same effective date as an earn-rate cut.
Regalia Gold cardholders get something new to click: Boarding Edge. Upload any airline boarding pass to SmartBuy and pick two of four perks — spa access, an airport buffet, a hotel room upgrade or an airport transfer — once per quarter.
On its own merits, this is genuinely useful. If you actually fly, two free travel perks every quarter from a card that previously had no boarding-pass-linked benefits is real value, not brochure filler.
But look at the date. Boarding Edge lands on the same effective day as HDFC’s cut to Regalia Gold’s earn rate — the 4-per-₹150 to 5-per-₹200 denominator move that pays roughly 6% less per rupee. A shiny perk bundled with a rate cut is cover, and we read it as such.
Our take: take the perk, use it every quarter — and don’t let it change your maths on the earn-rate nerf it arrived with.
