HDFC caps Regalia Gold miles transfers — 50,000 points/month
HDFC Bank caps Regalia Gold miles transfers at 50,000 points a month. The change affects transfers made through the Smartbuy portal, but earn rates and redemption values remain unchanged. Cardholders must now plan their miles transfers in advance to work around the new cap.
HDFC Bank has capped Regalia Gold miles transfers at 50,000 points a month. The change is part of the reissued Regalia Gold Rewards Points Program T&C on 6 August 2026. This cap only applies to transfers made through the HDFC Bank Smartbuy portal. The earn rate and redemption value of Regalia Gold reward points remain unchanged. Cardholders can still earn 4 reward points per ₹150 spent and redeem them for the same value as before. However, they can no longer transfer a large number of points at once. For example, an award that requires 120,000 miles will now take three months to accumulate. This change adds to the existing 50,000-a-month ceilings on SmartBuy flight and hotel redemption, cashback to statement, and the earn ceiling of 50,000 reward points per statement cycle. HDFC Bank has been capping redemption rather than cutting rates for two years, with similar changes made to Infinia and Diners Black in February 2026. This policy now extends to the mid-tier Regalia Gold card. Our take: if you hold the Regalia Gold card, plan your miles transfers in advance to work around the new cap. If you were relying on transferring large amounts of points at once, you may need to adjust your strategy. Consider your redemption goals and plan accordingly. For now, the Regalia Gold card still offers favourable earn rates and redemption options, but the added cap may affect its overall value for some cardholders.
