Jet Airways-Bangkok Airways codeshare adds 9 new cities
Jet Airways expanded its Bangkok Airways codeshare from two routes to nine new cities including Phuket, Krabi and Da Nang, while Bangkok Airways' code went onto Jet's domestic Mumbai and Delhi routes. JPMiles now earn and burn across the wider network on a single PNR.
Jet Airways and Bangkok Airways have expanded their codeshare well beyond its old Mumbai-Bangkok and Bangkok-Delhi footprint. Jet’s 9W code now sits on nine new cities — Phuket, Krabi, Da Nang and six more — covering seven Thai beach towns and two Vietnamese cities. In return, Bangkok Airways’ code goes onto Jet’s domestic Mumbai and Delhi routes.
For JetPrivilege members, the practical win is simple: more places to earn and burn JPMiles on a single PNR. Book Mumbai to Krabi under one Jet Airways flight number and the whole itinerary sits inside the programme.
It is a rare piece of good news in Jet’s 2018 — a year in which the airline’s own finances were visibly unraveling even as its network map improved.
Our take: take the network expansion, but read the room. An airline widening its codeshare map while its balance sheet burns is giving you more ways to spend miles, not more reasons to hoard them. Earn on these routes, redeem promptly.
