Axis caps the Magnus 35-per-₹200 tier at your credit limit

Magnus and Burgundy accelerated earn now stops at your credit limit plus ₹1.5 lakh per statement month, then falls back to 12 per ₹200. Reserve's international 2X gets the same ceiling.

The Magnus loophole is closed. Until now, every rupee above ₹1.5 lakh a month earned 35 EDGE Reward Points per ₹200 — a 7% return in transferable points — with no ceiling. Heavy spenders recycled payments through Magnus and its Burgundy sibling to farm that tier indefinitely. From today, accelerated earn stops at your credit limit plus ₹1.5 lakh in a statement month. Past that, you’re back to the base 12 per ₹200.

Axis applied the same credit-limit ceiling to the Reserve’s international 2X earn, so nobody gets to route around this with a different piece of Axis metal.

Who actually loses? Not the organic heavy spender — if your genuine monthly spend fits inside your limit plus ₹1.5 lakh, nothing changes. The manufactured-spend crowd, who cycled payments mid-month to spend multiples of their limit, noticed immediately. We rate this moderate, not severe, for exactly that reason.

Our take: a fair nerf, and a rare one. Axis capped the exploit, not the card — the 35/₹200 tier that makes Magnus worth its fee for real ₹5-lakh-a-month spenders is intact. If your “spend” only worked because it looped, that wasn’t earning; it was arbitrage on borrowed time.
