HSBC extends the RuPay Platinum card's ₹500 welcome to 31 December 2026

HSBC re-issued the RuPay Platinum introductory-offer terms on 18 September 2026 and moved the end date from 31 August to 31 December 2026: the ₹500 cashback for downloading the HSBC India app and spending ₹5,000 in the first 30 days now covers cards applied for "between 15th July 2025 till 31 December 2026", and two months of EazyDiner Prime on activation runs to the same date. The start date did not move, so there is no gap: the lapse we logged on 1 September did not survive the re-issue. The ₹250 UPI cashback was not extended, and the RuPay 0% forex offer extended the same day names the Cashback card only.

Cards this affects

HSBC un-ended the RuPay Platinum’s welcome the same afternoon it did the Cashback card’s. On 18 September 2026 it re-issued the card’s introductory-offer terms, and the window that stopped on 31 August in the edition we read now runs from 15 July 2025 to 31 December 2026. The start date did not move, so there is no hole: anyone who applied in September or October is covered by the terms that now govern, and the lapse we logged on 1 September never happened under them.

What is back, for applications to the end of the year:

  • ₹500 cashback. Download the HSBC India Mobile app and spend at least ₹5,000 in the first 30 days of having the card; “Offer ends 31 December 2026”. Add-on cardholders don’t qualify, it can’t be combined with another welcome offer, and the money lands within 60 days of the 30-day window closing.
  • Two months of EazyDiner Prime on activation. Those terms were re-issued the same day and also read “15 July 2025 to 31 December 2026”.

What did not come back: the ₹250 cashback for two UPI transactions ended on 31 August and is gone from the product page, along with the ₹1,000 Account Aggregator offer and the Cleartrip coupon. The ₹250 Amazon voucher for a video-KYC online application was never part of the lapse and still runs to 31 October.

What this card does not get is the 0% forex. HSBC extended that to 31 December too, but its terms name the RuPay Cashback card and only that card. The RuPay Platinum’s one waiver is HSBC’s bank-wide zero-mark-up window, which ends on 31 October; after that it pays the 3.5% in HSBC’s RuPay tariff sheet.

Our take: ₹500 for ₹5,000 of spend is 10% back on a card that costs nothing to hold, and it asks half the spend the ₹499 Cashback card does for the same ₹500. It doesn’t change why you’d hold this card, which is that its UPI spend earns HSBC Reward Points that can leave for an airline. Apply before 31 December if you were going to anyway.
