HSBC RuPay Cashback welcome suite ends — ₹500 cashback gone

HSBC’s RuPay Cashback welcome suite has lapsed, effective 1 September 2026. The suite included ₹500 cashback for downloading the HSBC India app and transacting ₹10,000 in the first 30 days, two months of EazyDiner Prime on activation, and ₹250 cashback for two card-linked UPI transactions of ₹250 or more. All three offers have ended for new cardholders, leaving only the ₹250 Amazon eGift Voucher for online applications completed with Video KYC. The ₹499 annual fee is no longer offset by the introductory cashback, making the card less attractive to new applicants. The 0% FX mark-up promotion has also expired, reverting to the standard 3.5% rate. Our take: review the HSBC RuPay Cashback’s benefits and consider alternatives if the new welcome offer does not meet your needs. The loss of the ₹500 cashback and other benefits may not justify the ₹499 fee for some cardholders. If you applied before 1 September 2026, the old offers still apply, but new applicants will only receive the ₹250 Amazon voucher. Consider whether the card’s remaining benefits, such as the Amazon voucher, are enough to keep the card or if it is time to look for a new card.
