BOBCARD drops accidental death cover — from 25 August 2026
BOBCARD will remove the Air and Non-Air Accidental Death Cover from twenty cards from 25 August 2026. This change is part of a broader revision of charges and benefits and signals a direction of reducing benefits on these cards.
BOBCARD will withdraw the Air and Non-Air Accidental Death Cover from twenty of its cards, including Eterna, Premier, and Tiara, from 25 August 2026. This change affects both new and existing cardholders, although existing cardholders will keep the cover until the effective date. Cards issued after 15 July 2026 never had this cover. The cover is being removed as part of a broader revision of charges and benefits that also includes changes to unlimited-domestic-lounge access and finance charges on certain cards. The removal of this cover is the third cut in the revision notice, and it affects cards that were not previously thought to be subject to repricing. The other changes in the notice, such as the increase in spend required for unlimited-domestic-lounge access on certain cards and the increase in finance charges on others, took effect on 15 July 2026. The removal of the Air and Non-Air Accidental Death Cover is a minor change, as this type of cover is rarely claimed and costs the issuer very little. However, it signals a direction of reducing benefits on these cards. Our take: if you have one of the affected BOBCARD cards, you should review your card benefits and consider whether this change affects your usage. You still have a window until 25 August 2026 to use the cover if you need it, so make the most of it before it is gone. After that, you may want to look at other benefits on your card to see if they are still valuable to you.
