Amex Platinum drops Lufthansa Lounge access from October
American Express India Platinum cardholders can use Lufthansa Lounges until 30 September 2026. From 1 October the benefit ends, with no replacement announced.
Another line comes off the Amex Platinum. India cardholders keep Lufthansa Lounge access through 30 September 2026; from 1 October 2026 it stops. Amex has not announced anything to replace it.
This is the third cut in a run: the Mumbai Centurion Lounge closed, Etihad Guest left the Membership Rewards transfer list on 30 June, and now Lufthansa. For a ₹66,000-a-year charge card sold almost entirely on the lounge and the transfer roster, subtracting from both in one quarter is a choice.
Worth stating plainly: Amex has published no press release. This is running through cardholder communication and the benefits page, which is how every recent Platinum change has surfaced. Treat the October date as reported, not as an Amex-issued statement, and check the lounge list before you plan a Frankfurt or Munich connection around it.
Our take: Platinum’s lounge case in India was never Lufthansa — it is Centurion abroad, Priority Pass and the domestic network. Losing Lufthansa costs you on exactly one trip profile: the long European connection on a Star Alliance ticket, where the Business Lounge was a genuinely good room you did not have to be flying Lufthansa Business to enter. If that was your reason for holding the card, you now have until 30 September and then a real question at renewal.
