How we got this ₹ figure

₹0.50 is our HOUSE value for a point — what a disciplined traveller actually clears, not the best redemption we have ever seen (₹0.50, the ceiling) and not the worst you can always fall back on (₹0.50, the floor). It is the number every route on this page is priced with.

We hold one dated point for ABLE REWARDS Points — the mark itself. There is no earlier valuation on our record, so this page shows no trend line rather than drawing one. How we value a point →

ANDHRA BANK PUBLISHED THIS PRICE ITSELF, WHICH IS RARE ENOUGH TO BE THE WHOLE ROW. The bank's own credit-card page carried a shelf-wide "Reward Points- Earn while spending" block, and it printed both halves of the arithmetic: "ONE reward point is allotted on every spent of Rs.100/-" and, twice over, "Conversion price @ Rs.0.50 paisa on every point earned" — once "for platinum & signature cards" and once "for classic & gold cards". A published conversion price is not a community estimate and not a house guess; it is the issuer's own number, so value, floor and ceiling are the same ₹0.50 and this row does not carry a band. SCRIP, NOT MONEY, and the file's own test decides it: a unit is `money` when the issuer's document credits ONE UNIT TO THE CARD ACCOUNT AS ONE RUPEE. Andhra credits to the account — "Bank shall redeem the Reward points automatically to the cardholder's account without any request from the cardholder" — but at fifty paise a point, so the unit is not the rupee. Same shape as DBS Vantage Points: a price the issuer puts on its own unit. NO ROUTE OUT, and none is claimed. The points moved to the bank's ABLE REWARDS programme ("From Now onwards, your loyalty points will be maintained in our ABLE REWARDS Programme … kindly visit our Andhra bank loyalty Engagement website www.ablerewards.com"), and no Andhra document names an airline, a hotel or any transfer partner. The currency is absent from both transfer files, so the six cards it prices are admitted on their own gates and never on gate 2. A FROZEN ERA, MARKED HONESTLY. Andhra Bank was merged into Union Bank of India on 1 April 2020 and no successor programme document names ABLE REWARDS. `trend: flat` is therefore literal rather than optimistic — a fixed conversion price on a bank that no longer issues cannot move, and there is no market that could re-mark it. What this row prices is what the cards paid while they were live, which is the honest thing a valuations desk can say about six withdrawn cards.

A year after Centralcard, Andhra Bank launched India's first Visa-branded credit card in 1981, plugging Indian plastic into a global network brand for the first time. Acceptance finally started to widen beyond a handful of merchants. The Visa/Mastercard duopoly that still routes nearly every Indian reward point starts here.
