Amex Platinum Travel loses ₹1.9 lakh milestone, ₹7 lakh now gets ₹20,000 Taj voucher

American Express has made significant changes to its Amex Platinum Travel card. The ₹1.9 lakh milestone has been deleted, and the ₹7 lakh points now offer a ₹20,000 Taj Experiences e-Gift Card instead of 22,500 Membership Rewards points and a ₹10,000 Taj voucher. The new structure includes two rungs: 10,000 MR at ₹4 lakh, and a ₹20,000 Taj Experiences e-Gift Card at ₹7 lakh, with 10,000 bonus Membership Rewards points across the ladder. This change affects cardmembers who were working towards the ₹1.9 lakh or ₹7 lakh milestones, offering them fewer rewards. For those who spent before 10 September 2026, the old ladder applies; for those who spent on or after 10 September 2026, the new ladder applies. Our take: If you have a large balance of Membership Rewards points or are close to reaching the ₹4 lakh or ₹7 lakh milestones, consider using them before the changes impact your rewards. Canceling or downgrading the card may also be an option if the new rewards structure does not align with your needs.
