HDFC caps redemptions — 5/month, 50k points

HDFC Bank limits reward point redemptions to 5 per month and 50,000 points per month against statement balance, affecting cardholders with large point balances. This change takes effect from 1 February 2026.

HDFC Bank has introduced new restrictions on redeeming reward points, effective 1 February 2026. Cardholders can now make a maximum of 5 redemptions per month and redeem up to 50,000 points per month against their statement balance. Additionally, there is a cap of ₹2,00,000 in total redemptions per statement cycle, with flights, hotels, and airmiles limited to ₹1,50,000 per month. This change affects cardholders who have accumulated large point balances, particularly those with the Infinia and Diners Black cards. Although the earn rate remains unchanged, the new restrictions limit how quickly cardholders can redeem their points. For those with six-figure point balances, this means they can only cash out a portion of their points each cycle. Our take: If you’re an Infinia or Diners Black cardholder with a large point balance, review your redemption strategy to maximize your points within the new limits. Consider redeeming points for travel on SmartBuy or other eligible categories to minimize the impact of the changes. Monitor your point balance and plan your redemptions carefully to ensure you don’t exceed the monthly caps.
