IDFC FIRST unveils Gaj, an invite-only ₹12,500 metal flagship
Gaj: caps the Ashva-Mayura-Gaj trilogy — invite-only for Private Banking clients at ₹12,500+GST, offset by 12,500 Reward Points (1RP=₹1) on in-app travel, with 0% forex and 1:1 earn.
IDFC FIRST just completed its metal trilogy. Gaj: sits atop Ashva and Mayura as the bank’s new flagship — invite-only for IDFC FIRST Private Banking clients, at ₹12,500+GST joining and annual fee. Until now, the bank’s metal tier topped out below super-premium; this is its first genuine entry into that bracket.
The fee maths is deliberately simple: 12,500 Reward Points at 1RP=₹1, redeemable on in-app travel bookings, effectively neutralise the annual fee if you actually book travel through the app. Add 0% forex markup and a 1:1 earn rate, and the card is priced to feel free for anyone who qualifies.
Most readers won’t — and that’s the point. This is a niche launch by design.
Our take: the card itself won’t move our rankings, but the signal matters. IDFC FIRST is openly chasing the HNI segment HDFC Infinia and Axis Reserve have owned for years — and it’s doing it right as both incumbents are busy cutting benefits. Watch this space.
