IDFC FIRST adds 24-month expiry — 100% devaluation for hoarders
IDFC FIRST reward points now expire 24 months from crediting, a major devaluation from their previous lifetime validity. Existing WOW! points are valid until July 2028.
IDFC FIRST Bank has introduced a 24-month expiry on reward points earned from 18 June 2026. Previously, IDFC FIRST reward points had lifetime validity. The new expiry policy applies to cards like FIRST Wealth, FIRST Millennia, and FIRST WOW!. The change affects all points earned after 18 June 2026, with existing WOW! points grandfathered until July 2028. This move follows other recent changes, including the removal of app-travel multipliers on certain cards and a ₹20,000-spend gate on movie perks. Our take: Burn your IDFC FIRST reward points as soon as possible, rather than hoarding them. The lifetime-validity era is over, and the new expiry policy reduces the value of holding onto points. Use them for redemptions or transfers to avoid losing their value after 24 months.
