Club Vistara nearly doubles the cost of a Business class upgrade
Vistara's revamped upgrade chart, effective September 1, 2019, raises Premium Economy-to-Business upgrade costs 80-100% in CV points on almost every route, while cutting the complimentary upgrade vouchers new Gold and Platinum members receive.
Club Vistara’s upgrade chart just got rewritten, and the direction is exactly what you’d expect. Effective September 1, 2019, jumping from Premium Economy to Business costs 80-100% more in CV points on almost every route. That’s not a tweak — on the top end, it’s a doubling.
The elite tiers took a parallel hit: new Gold and Platinum members now receive fewer complimentary upgrade vouchers per year than the old chart handed out. So the paid path costs nearly twice as much, and the free path got narrower, simultaneously.
Vistara did scatter a few softeners alongside — extra companion lounge access, and Economy-to-Business jumps by burning two vouchers. Nobody should mistake the garnish for the dish.
Our take: this is Vistara protecting its most profitable cabin from point-hungry upgraders, full stop. Upgrades were the best ₹-per-point use of CV balances, and an 80-100% cost hike cuts that value roughly in half overnight. If your Club Vistara strategy was “fly Premium Economy, upgrade with points,” the math just changed — redo it before you credit another flight.
