IDFC First and Club Vistara team up on a travel credit card
IDFC FIRST Bank, Club Vistara and Mastercard announced a co-branded travel credit card on July 11, 2023, bundling CV Points earning with lounge access, golf benefits and trip-cancellation cover.
IDFC FIRST Bank finally got a real travel card. On July 11, 2023, the bank announced a co-branded credit card with Club Vistara and Mastercard, bundling CV Points earning with lounge access, golf benefits and trip-cancellation cover.
Context matters here. Vistara co-brands were already a crowded shelf — HDFC and Axis both had Club Vistara cards in market, each with its own milestone-ticket machinery. Against those incumbents, the IDFC First entrant was a modest proposition rather than a category-shaker.
But for IDFC First itself, this was the more interesting story. The bank had been building out a premium lineup without a genuine travel-rewards product to anchor it; an airline co-brand tied to a full-service carrier’s program filled that hole for the first time.
Our take: a moderate launch, not a must-have. CV Points tied to one airline are always a narrower bet than transferable currencies — this card mattered more for what it said about IDFC First’s ambitions than for what it put in your wallet.
