Royal Orchid Plus moves to 10-digit member numbers and pauses partner transfers for five days

Thai's Royal Orchid Plus switched membership systems in mid-September. Partner transfers into ROP stopped from 14 to 18 September, and member IDs are moving from 7 characters to 10 digits.

Thai Airways moved Royal Orchid Plus onto a new membership system in the middle of September, and transfers into the programme stopped while it did. The clearest notice came from a transfer partner, not from Thai. Maybank told its cardholders that:

  • mileage transfers into ROP were unavailable from 14 to 18 September 2026;
  • requests submitted after the partner’s cut-off were processed only once the migration finished, so those miles landed late;
  • ROP membership IDs are moving from the 7-character alphanumeric format to a 10-digit numeric one.

Why an Indian reader cares. Five Indian card currencies transfer straight into ROP: HSBC Reward Points and SBI Travel Credits at 1:1, HDFC Reward Points at 2:1, Axis EDGE Miles at 1:2 and EDGE Rewards at 5:2. The five-day pause is over. What lasts is the member number every one of those transfer forms asks for. Before your next transfer, log in to ROP, copy the number it shows now, and update the saved partner ID at your bank. A mismatched ID is the classic way a transfer bounces or sits in limbo.

We have not found Thai’s own statement on whether the old 7-character IDs still resolve, so treat the new number as the one to use. Nothing in the notice touches transfer ratios or award prices: this is plumbing, not a devaluation. The ROP qualification changes Thai postponed on 5 August are a separate story.
