IDFC FIRST quietly exits OneCard's partner-bank roster

No press release, no announcement — just a footer. On 24 July 2026 getonecard.app listed seven issuing banks, IDFC Bank among them, with its own linked terms page. By the 29th the list read six: BOBCARD, CSB, Federal, SBM, South Indian and Indian. Our T&C watchdog caught the diff on 31 July; the Internet Archive brackets the change to those five days.

IDFC FIRST isn’t hiding it so much as declining to say it out loud. The bank now publishes a page titled “OneCard replaced by FIRST Wealth Without Limit”, pointing its OneCard base at its own in-house cards — FIRST Wealth, with a FIRST Select variant alongside.

For an IDFC-issued OneCard holder that means a different rewards system entirely, and the trade is genuinely mixed. Our numbers: OneCard Metal earns 0.2% base in closed-loop points redeemable at a flat ₹0.10, with no lounge access at all, domestic or international. FIRST Wealth is also lifetime free, earns 0.4% at house value with 10X on dining, travel and international spend from the first transaction, and does carry lounges — one domestic plus one international a quarter, gated on ₹20,000 of previous-month spend. The catch is the number OneCard was actually held for: FIRST Wealth marks forex up 1.5% against OneCard’s 1%. We rank FIRST Wealth 81st and OneCard Metal 95th of 107, so on paper this is an upgrade for everyone except the person who kept the metal slab for the border.

Everyone else’s routing is untouched — the bank on your statement stays the bank on your statement. The uncomfortable arithmetic is the roster itself: new OneCard issuance has been RBI-frozen since December 2025, so the partner list is shrinking while the front door stays shut. Six banks, no new customers, one partner already walking its holders out. That is the number to watch, not the rewards table.
