Amex India cuts Etihad Guest as an MR transfer partner

Etihad Guest is off the Membership Rewards transfer list. As of 30 June 2026, 11:59 PM IST, the route is closed for good — part of a global Amex-Etihad wind-down that has already hit the UK, US, Canada and Germany. Neither side explained why.
This one stings more than the average partner cut. Etihad Guest’s sweet spots — the A380 First redemptions above all — were a favourite MR outlet for Indian cardholders, and there is no replacement announced. One of the better doors out of the Amex ecosystem just shut, permanently.
The only mercy: points already transferred are unaffected. If you moved MR into Etihad Guest before the deadline, your miles sit safely on the other side. Only future transfers stop.
Our take: a major loss with no offset — MR just got measurably less flexible in India, and “no replacement announced” is the phrase to watch.
