Our verdict: keep (ranked #595)

The Kotak Private Credit Card exists on paper before it exists anywhere else.

Our full review 5 good · 5 bad

Kotak has filed a Key Fact Statement for it and nothing more — no product page, no listing, no rewards document — and that statement prices it above anything else Kotak sells: ₹49,000 a year, no joining fee, no add-on fee, with the annual fee "waived off for eligible Kotak Private clients". That is the whole proposition in one clause. It is a relationship card for Kotak's private-banking clients, and the KFS says plainly that the waiver and every card benefit last only as long as the client stays eligible for the programme. Fall out, and the ₹49,000 is real. What the schedule does show is the most travel-friendly charge sheet Kotak prints. Foreign-currency markup is nil, and so is the dynamic-currency-conversion fee. The 1% fees Kotak's other cards charge on fuel, rent, education, utilities, wallet loads, online skill gaming, tolls and railway tickets are all nil here too. Card replacement, over-limit and redemption are free, cash advances cost 1% of the amount, and the fuel surcharge waiver runs to ₹10,000 a year. What Kotak has not told anyone is what the card pays back. The KFS charges nothing to redeem and never says what you would be redeeming, so we decline to value it. If your banker offers one, ask for the rewards schedule before the card arrives.

What's good

  • NIL foreign-currency markup and a NIL dynamic-currency-conversion fee, per Kotak's Key Fact Statement
  • ₹49,000 annual fee waived for eligible Kotak Private clients, with no joining fee and no add-on fee
  • No fee on fuel, rent, education, utility, wallet-load, gaming, toll or railway spends — Kotak's other cards charge 1% on several of these above set thresholds
  • Fuel surcharge waiver of 1% on ₹400–₹7,500 fills, up to ₹10,000 an anniversary year
  • Over-limit, card replacement and reward redemption are all free; cash advances cost 1% of the amount

Watch out

  • Kotak publishes NO earn rate, currency or redemption value for this card, so we decline to value it
  • The fee waiver and every benefit depend on staying eligible for Kotak Private; fall out and the ₹49,000 fee applies
  • No product page and no public application: it is issued through the Kotak Private Banking relationship
  • Revolving credit and cash advances cost 3.50% a month (42% a year)
  • Late payment charges still run up to ₹1,300 a cycle on balances above ₹50,000

Rewards

Kotak Mahindra Bank has not published what this card earns. Not zero: nothing stated either way. We can't value this card until the issuer publishes how it earns — every net-value number here would be a fee subtracted from rewards nobody has described.

Category rules: not published. We have not found where this card earns less.

Fees & charges

₹0 joining, then ₹49,000/yr, plus GST. The bank often waives it for customers with a banking relationship.

Keep, downgrade or cancel?

There is no renewal arithmetic to run on this card yet — and a break-even we cannot source is not one we will print.

We cannot work out a break-even without both the fee and the earn rate. What we can source is under Sources.

Downgrade: Kotak Mahindra Bank publishes no card you can step down to, so we name none. That leaves keep or cancel.

Invite-only — there is no public application form. The bank calls you.

Only through a Kotak Private Banking relationship. There is no product page and no online application; the KFS ties the fee waiver and the card's benefits to "continued eligibility under the applicable Programme", which it defines as Kotak propositions "such as Private Banking". Kotak publishes no income band, age band or relationship-value threshold for the card itself.

Why it ranks #595

Carried, not ranked: Kotak has published the fee schedule for this card and nothing about what it pays back, so there is no earn to price. Like the Solitaire, it is a wealth-relationship card whose fee is waived for the clients it is issued to.
