Hilton drops the second 'H': HHonors becomes Hilton Honors

Hilton rebranded HHonors to Hilton Honors on February 1, 2017 and paired the name change with a Points & Money slider for partial-points redemptions with no blackout dates, plus free points pooling with up to 10 other members from April.

Hilton HHonors is dead; long live Hilton Honors. The double-H is gone as of February 1, 2017 — and unusually for a loyalty rebrand, the new name comes with actual substance instead of a logo refresh and a devaluation hiding in the appendix.

The headline feature is a Points & Money slider. Instead of the old fixed points-or-cash choice, you can now mix the two at whatever ratio your balance allows, with no blackout dates. Sitting on 80% of the points for a redemption no longer means paying full cash.

The second buff lands in April: free points pooling with up to 10 other members. Family balances scattered across accounts can finally be combined into one usable redemption — at zero cost, which is more than most programmes can say.

Our take: a rare loyalty-programme year that gave more than it took. Enjoy it; they do not come around often.
