ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver vs IDFC FIRST HPCL Power+: which should you pick?

HPCL's two co-brands, IDFC's and ICICI's, ₹499 against ₹500 and both waived at ₹1,50,000 of spend. Power+ pays 30X at HPCL pumps, 5% at ₹0.25 a point, on up to ₹12,000 of pump spend a statement cycle, the same 5% on ₹2,000 of grocery and utilities a cycle, and up to 28.7 points per ₹100 on hotels booked in IDFC's app; Super Saver pays 4% cashback at HPCL and the HP Pay app, capped at ₹200 a month, 5% on utilities, groceries, telecom and departmental stores up to 400 points a statement cycle, and 0.5% elsewhere. Super Saver out-earns Power+ at every spend level the page tests, so Power+'s case is a large HPCL fuel bill, which its ₹12,000 ceiling rewards and Super Saver's ₹200 cap does not. Power+ opens one domestic airport lounge visit a quarter on ₹20,000 of the previous month's spend; Super Saver one a quarter.

At every spend from ₹25,000 to ₹5 lakh a month, ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver beats IDFC FIRST HPCL Power+, and its lead widens from ₹200 to ₹8,200 a year as spend climbs. At ₹75,000 a month the gap is mostly what each card earns on your spend: ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver returns ₹4,200 a year in rewards to IDFC FIRST HPCL Power+'s ₹3,300. IDFC FIRST HPCL Power+ is the better pick if you spend abroad: its forex markup is 0% against 3.5% on ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver, 3.5 percentage points less on every rupee spent in another currency.

† IDFC FIRST HPCL Power+: IDFC's Savings Maximiser prints the rate: 3 Reward Points per ₹150 on ordinary spend at "1 Reward point = ₹0.25", so the base is 2 points per ₹100 and worth 0.5%. That ₹0.25 is the house value exactly — Power+ has no in-app travel tier above it. Ignore the headline "6.5% savings on fuel" — 1.5% of it is HPCL Happy Coins, a different currency entirely.

† ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver: This card's own T&C settles the ₹0.25 without needing a second document. Clause IV says the daily-essentials tier is a "5% benefit as ICICI Bank reward points" and then defines it as "20 points on every ₹100 spent" — 20 points called 5% of ₹100 is ₹0.25 a point, stated by ICICI's arithmetic rather than ours. The ₹1.00 house value is Emeralde Private Metal's iShop travel rate; nothing on this card reaches it. The earn rate on this page is priced at that lower value.

Our value per point is what we think a point is worth when you use it well; every currency's figure and its reasoning is on points values.

How we work out the yearly value

We put each card through the same everyday mix of spending, apply that card's own rules for each kind of spend (some earn nothing on fuel or bills), add its milestone and renewal bonuses at our value per point, and take off the fee unless that spend waives it. Bonus categories that need you to shop a certain way are not counted. Your own mix will differ: try your numbers in the calculator, or read how we value cards.
