Visa formalises Infinite Privilege and Infinite Private in India — and a second issuer is coming
Visa has made its two ultra-premium tiers — Infinite Privilege and Infinite Private — an official three-rung structure in India above plain Infinite. Axis Primus already sits on Infinite Privilege; ICICI's ₹1,75,000-joining 1838 Reserve, expected October, is the next in line.
Visa now runs a three-rung premium ladder in India — Infinite, then Infinite Privilege, then invitation-only Infinite Private — and the top two are no longer a one-card curiosity. The Axis Primus, launched with Visa in 2023 as India’s first Infinite Privilege product, has company coming: ICICI’s 1838 Reserve, expected October 2026 at a reported ₹1,75,000 + GST joining fee, is set to adopt the tier too. The Series proposition Visa hangs off these rungs is the usual ultra-HNW furniture — Luxury Hotel Collection stays, two annual airport fast-track passes, four complimentary golf rounds, chef-led dining, 24/7 concierge — but Visa is explicit that these are network-level possibilities, not guarantees on any one card; the issuer still decides what actually ships. Primus itself remains brutal on price: ₹5,00,000 to join, ₹3,00,000 to renew, invitation only.
Our take: this is a positioning move, not a benefit you can go get — the tier is invite-gated at both cards that use it. Watch the ICICI 1838 Reserve in October for the first real chance to compare what two issuers actually load onto the same Visa rung; until then, Primus is the only Infinite Privilege card on the board and it is priced accordingly.
