Marriott Bonvoy scraps award charts for dynamic pricing

Marriott dropped its fixed off-peak/standard/peak award charts and moved to revenue-linked dynamic pricing, keeping min/max peak and off-peak bands only through the end of 2022.

Marriott has torn up its published award chart. The fixed off-peak/standard/peak pricing that let you plan a redemption months ahead is gone, replaced by revenue-linked dynamic rates in the Hilton and IHG mould.

There’s one mercy clause: min/max peak and off-peak bands stay in place through the end of 2022. After that, the ceiling comes off. A published chart is a promise; dynamic pricing is whatever the revenue-management system feels like on the day you search.

For Indian points collectors the exposure is direct. Anyone hoarding Bonvoy points transferred from HDFC’s Marriott Bonvoy card for that one aspirational Category 8 redemption just watched the goalposts start moving — and after the 2022 bands expire, they can move without limit.

Our take: the era of Bonvoy sweet spots on a fixed chart is ending. Burn toward a specific stay inside the banded window while the caps still hold, because “dynamic” has never once meant “cheaper” in hotel loyalty.
