Jet Airways Launches Konnect Select, a Premium-Economy Hybrid

On April 26, 2010 Jet Airways added a premium cabin to its low-cost Konnect brand. Konnect Select offers a 40-inch seat pitch, lounge access and priority check-in, with JetPrivilege accrual matching the full-service Club Premiere fare class.

Jet Airways just bolted a premium cabin onto its budget arm. Konnect Select, launched April 26, 2010, upgrades the bare-bones, all-economy Konnect product with a 40-inch seat pitch, lounge access and priority check-in.

The loyalty detail is the one that matters here: Konnect Select earns JetPrivilege miles at the same rate as Club Premiere, Jet’s full-service premium fare class. Standard Konnect fares accrue standard mileage; Select accrues like the real thing.

That’s a neat trick. Jet gets to sell a budget product while keeping earn rates competitive enough that frequent flyers don’t feel like second-class citizens for booking the cheap subsidiary. Elite-chasing road warriors can fly the low-cost brand without torching their mileage year.

Our take: 40 inches of pitch plus Club Premiere-grade accrual on a Konnect fare is the rare hybrid where the loyalty math actually works. If the price gap is small, Select is the smarter buy.
