SpiceJet launches SpiceClub, first prepaid airline loyalty card

SpiceJet announces SpiceClub, a ₹399-a-year prepaid membership with flight vouchers and birthday perks — the first loyalty program on an Indian low-cost carrier.

SpiceJet just did something no Indian low-cost carrier has done: launched a loyalty program. SpiceClub, announced February 17, 2016, blends a prepaid stored-value card with loyalty perks for ₹399 a year.

The ₹399 buys a real stack: two ₹399 domestic-flight vouchers, a free base fare on your birthday flight, 50% off on your membership anniversary, and priority check-in — nominally worth up to ₹10,000. The vouchers alone roughly cover the fee, so the downside for a regular SpiceJet flyer is close to nil.

Let’s be clear about scale: this is a modest program next to JetPrivilege or Club Vistara, and a prepaid card is not a miles currency. But the signal matters — even budget carriers now see value in giving frequent flyers a reason to stick around, in a market where loyalty was strictly a full-service game.

Our take: ₹399 against two ₹399 vouchers is math even a cashback devotee can do — if you fly SpiceJet twice a year, join; if you don’t, this changes nothing.
