IDFC FIRST ends lifetime points — 24-month expiry lands

IDFC FIRST's celebrated 'points never expire' promise is dead. Points earned from 18 June 2026 now carry a 24-month expiry across FIRST Wealth, FIRST Millennia, FIRST WOW! and the wider stack, with existing WOW! balances grandfathered only until July 2028.

The same June 2026 revamp that clipped Mayura and Ashva’s app-travel multipliers took a quieter, broader swing — and this one hits the whole IDFC FIRST stack. The bank’s most-repeated selling line, “reward points never expire,” is gone.

Points earned from 18 June 2026 now expire 24 months from the date they’re credited. It applies across FIRST Wealth, FIRST Millennia, FIRST WOW! and beyond. The only mercy is a grandfather clause: WOW! balances already sitting in your account stay valid until July 2028. Everything you earn from here starts a two-year clock.

It doesn’t travel alone. The same portfolio-wide overhaul stops points earning on spends beyond your credit limit, and gates the Buy-One-Get-One movie perk behind ₹20,000 of previous-month spend. Put the three together and IDFC’s entire identity — lifetime-valid, low-friction, no-catch rewards — is being sanded down move by move.

Our take: the era of parking IDFC points and forgetting about them is over. If you hold FIRST Wealth or WOW!, stop hoarding and start burning — a two-year expiry rewards the disciplined and quietly punishes everyone who treated these points as savings. Redeem on a schedule, or watch them lapse.
